Coverage Note: Multi-Technique Privilege Escalation Sequence
The original “Multi-Technique Privilege Escalation Sequence” rule aimed to fire when lpe.exe attempted 2-of-3 privilege-escalation techniques (token impersonation, UAC bypass, SYSTEM scheduled task) within 60 seconds — a cross-logsource, cross-event correlation that base Sigma rules cannot express. After removing the deprecated aggregation syntax it collapsed to a plain schtasks /ru SYSTEM match already covered (more precisely) by Rule 3 (Scheduled Task Created as SYSTEM), so it has been removed to avoid a redundant rule. The individual techniques remain covered by Rules 1–5 above; the full multi-technique sequence is best reconstructed with SIEM-side correlation across those rules.
